We Cumma We Goa... hittin' the beach

Oh, India... an overnight train on tiny bunk beds with cobwebs above, 6 others in our cabin for 12 hours, and no air-conditioning. Look at Paul (above) cramped in his bunk! Then arriving in Margao and getting on a slow public bus where we were sweating and getting dust in our face for 2 hours to go 38km. Unscrupulous taxi drivers that will cheat you out of a dollar in a heartbeat at the station.

Finally we arrive in Patnem, Goa, a small beach town in the south lined with 1km of palm trees and people doing serious yoga on the sand. It reminds us of where we got married in Thailand. Ahh.. Today waking up in our hut on the sand under a mosquito net, sleeping in, going on a HOT run to town for our workout, and not having breakfast until11:30am. (Our total cost for breakfast was 36 rupees or $ 0.90 cents.) In the afternoon we layed out, splashed around in the sea, read books, and got a 2-hour full body massage and facials ending with an oily Indian head massage (whew, a tingling greasy scalp for atleast an hour). This feels like a McNeil vacation. Tuk-tuks and moto's are the mode of transport here. Very tranquillo (relaxing). Just another GLOBAL BEACH NATION http://www.rolfpotts.com/ .

Goa is known for its' beach dance parties on the sand. We went to Pallolem Beach on Sat. night to check out the scene and found a "slient noise party." There is a noise ordinance, where all music must stop by 11pm, so then everyone is given headphones and the dj's keep playing. It's funny to watch people when you can't hear the music. Check out the photos above where everyone is wearing their headphones and look at all the dust that is picked up when you dance in the sand! Now we're off to Kochin on another overnight train ride...
