Jannie, the famous Afrikaans singer pictured above performed at a restaurant in the country called Lela's Arms on Sat. night. This restaurant is a "sustainable" house made of cob (mud house made of straw) and all the fruit and veggies served are from her organic garden too. Wayne, Giselle, Paul, and I enjoyed a 3-course country meal (springbok and spinach appetizer; chicken curry with salad and rice; and strawberry and hazelnut ice cream for dessert). Jannie sang songs for an hour in Afrikaans (a dying language comprised primarily of Dutch and spoken commonly in South Africa especially by countryfolk) and we couldn't understand a word but were culturally entertained. The view from her back patio was divine where we sat under the stars.
