On Dec. 22 Wayne drove us along the famous Montagu Pass, a 200 year-old dirt road that is still in use today. It was a route used for the farmers to transport their goods to cities by the sea. We saw a monkey along the way and baboons too! About 45 minutes from George on this hot day in the Land Rover, we finally arrived at the Herold Winery (pictured below behind the cows) and had a picnic in their wine cellar. We met with the owners and tasted some wine. My favorite is Gertrude- a light red with lots of residual sugar and another good one is the 2006 sav. blanc.
