Durban has the highest population of Indians outside of India

Durban is a city of 3 million people and cosmopolitan mix..... Durban has the highest population of Indians outside of India. The Indian cuisine was fabulous including the famous "bunny chow," a curry and rice dish served in a hollowed-out loaf of bread. Also, we met Junior- a young black Zulu musician. He and Sindy nicknamed us with Zulu names of Thabani for Paul and Mbali for me. We listened to poetry while another person was singing and playing drums in the background. Very hip! The northern beaches were the best, in Umhlanga and Sun Coast Casino. We found ourselves blending into the SA culture by going to the malls (to hang out, for entertainment, nice restaurants, nightclubs, and shopping). It's safe there. Below is one of our Indian friends we met here at Moyo Restaurant. Moyo is a loose translation for the Swahili word soul. The other pictures are of the face painting there we received on Valentine's Day and our waiter, Maurice, from Zimbabwe.

The Sun Coast Casino had the best beaches and restaurants. We had fun at the Ushaka Marine World (Sea World and Wild Rivers combined) where we ran from ride to ride like children. While at the waterpark we saw a Zulu performance by a teenage dance group. They had so much energy and were doing high kicks to the sky! Here are some photos of the Zulu beaded jewlery as well.
