Hua Hin, seaside resort town of the Thai royal family

Hua Hin is only a 2 hour drive from Bangkok and where the Thai royal family has their beach homes. It's a place where Thai's come to play golf, go to the safest beach in Thailand, eat great seafood (i.e. fried mussels, crab, lobster, shrimp, snapper), and relax. It's truely a Thai town that most tourists or expats dont visit, which is a nice change for us. We have witnessed more Thai culture here than anywhere else (i.e. we saw offerings being brought to the parents of someone getting married, went to a Thai music festival on the beach, tried new Thai food that we haven't seen in prior trips to Thailand, hung out with college-age Thai girls, etc.) and have really enjoyed our one week stay. We visited Hua Hin's historic Sofitel (built in 1920's pictured below), railroad station waiting room, and famous golden buddah on the hill. The elephant topiary was life-size!
The Hua Hin beaches have soft white sand to run on at sunrise, horseback riding, palm trees to read a book under, and warm water to swim in that entertained us too. We have slowed down the sight-seeing and started vacationing again.
