Tigers, Tribes, and Elephants in Chiang Mai

Hanging out in northern Thailand with Dave was outstanding! We stayed in the penthouse suite at Raming Lodge with fresh flowers, fruit, candy, and minibar items delivered daily. One day we hired a driver, Mr. Niwat, to take us around town. At Tiger Kingdom, we ate lunch with the tigers and Dave went in the cage with four 6-month old cubs and listened to them purrrrrr as he petted them. What beautiful animals. We could stare at them for hours! Then visiting the hill tribes, we took lots of photos and bought souveniers. The Karen tribe was from Burma and Thailand, and the unmarried women wear white. The term "spinster" came from unmarried women who spun cotton (check out that smile below).

The long neck tribe was unique because the women wore 5kg of metal coiled around their neck that press down on their collar bone, which makes their necks appear super long. It looked very uncomfortable.

At the Maesa Elephant Camp we fed the elephants bananas, touched their trunks as they bathed in the river, and they sprayed water on us with their trunks. In the show and the elephants played soccer, painted pictures, threw darts at balloons, competed in a race, danced, played the harmonica, and more! The elephants kicked a soccer ball in the goal and the goalie tried to defend it, and I melted. The Maesa Elephant Camp has high concern for their health care and breeding. Presently there are 70 happy and talented elephant artists, please check the art work in the gallery below. It was amazing to watch them paint because they were so careful and gentle with the paintbrush and you could really see them concentrating.
Check out the elephants playing soccer in the video below!
To end the day we went to the orchid farm, butterfly farm, and watched the sunset from Doi Suthep- a temple on top of the hill with a panoramic city view. The rest of our time in Chiang Mai was spent relaxing, getting massages, eating great vegetarian food at Blue Diamond Breakfast Club (cashew nut salad is the best salad on Earth, apple struedel, museli mix, mango with sweet sticky rice, etc.), shopping in the night bazaar, sleeping late, the boys playing golf, and Dave liked chilling at The Chedi Resort, probably the most expensive 5-star hotel in Thailand.
We loved spending time with you Dave and thanks so much for all the love and special treats!

She's Miss Piggy with pig tails in her pink van selling mini pork sausages at the night market!
